This first unit in our
educational technology course was very enlightening, interesting and
challenging, as it required us to make use of both our linguistic skills and
our knowledge on pedagogy. During this unit, we learnt some innovative concepts
such as a system for the classification of societies according to their
educational methods (1.0, 2.0 and 3.0), the digital competences necessary for
both students and teacher during this age of information, the definition of
what a knowmad is, the five perspectives under which education can be
interpreted (nurturing, developmental, social reform, transmission and
apprenticeship) and how to use certain digital tools, like glogster.
What we liked the most was
learning about the five perspectives, as this topic provided us with valuable
insight on the many styles and techniques that we could use when we become
teachers. The TPI test that we took was also valuable for us as it made us
think on how we would perform as authorities in a classroom.
The most challenging
part was probably grasping the concepts found in Movarec and Cobo’s book, as it
introduced us to a completely new way to think of our social context and of our
educational system.
